Howard D. McMillan Middle School, located in West Kendall, educates students in grades 6 through 8. Our vision is to increase student achievement, college and career readiness to a globally competitive level through innovative, rigorous curricula utilizing Cambridge Frameworks, Robotics and Medical Magnet programs. We provide advanced academics in the core content areas where students are given the opportunity to earn high school credits in Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology and Physical Science. In addition, we have a full time gifted program in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies with a gifted resource elective.
Through a variety of course offerings and a hands on approach to learning, our students excel as evidenced by our school’s numerous awards and recognitions. Howard D. McMillan Middle is a school of excellence with a Florida School Grade designation as an “A” school for many years. In addition, we have received the Magnet Schools of America, Merit Awards of Distinction and Excellence which places us in the top 1% of all Magnet Schools in the Nation. We are also recognized as an ECTAC Title 1 School of Excellence exceeding expectations in improving student achievement based on the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) results. We are a Certified Silver STEM Designation School. Howard D. McMillan offers two magnet programs in Cambridge Robotics and Technology Engineering and in Cambridge Medical and Health Sciences.
